+ How do you make a vinyl record?
We use a special record lathe to cut audio grooves into blank vinyl discs. The grooves are cut in real-time; if your audio is 15 minutes long, it will take us 15 minutes to make each copy of your record. We make each record one at a time.
Our process is different to the standard record pressing process, which typically require a minimum order of at least 300 records. Our process allows artists to supply vinyl to their fans, even if they can’t sell 300.
+ Why can’t I pre-order more than 5 (or 10 for 7”)?
Due to the lengthy process involved in making each record, we have to limit our pre-orders to ensure we can serve as many artists as possible.
+ Will it sound the same as pressed vinyl?
The sound is nearly identical to pressed vinyl. However, much of the quality is determined by the master audio you send us.
+ What are the quality and format requirements for the sound files/ images I upload?
Audio Formats: 44.1 or 48kHz, 16 or 24-bit WAV, AIFF or FLAC is preferred. We will accept MP3 and other audio formats; however, the better your source audio, the better your record will sound.
Artwork Formats: 300 DPI, flattened PDF artwork is prefered. Other image file types are accepted; however, a low quality image will result in a low quality record sleeve.
+ When do I upload my music and art?
You will be emailed a link to the Vinylizer Upload page after check-out.
+ Will the sound of my audio files be affected when put on a vinyl?
The bass frequencies will be slightly deeper. High frequencies in the side channels will be slightly rolled-off. The overall sound will be slightly rounder and warmer.
+ Are the records Stereo or Mono?
Our records are full Stereo. However, if you upload mono files, your records will be in mono.
+ Can I put any music on these records?
You must own the rights to the audio, or have permission from the rights holder. You cannot use our service to bootleg records from your favourite band!
+ My album is too long to fit on one 12" record. Do you make double LPs?
Sure do. Check them out here: http://www.vinylizer.com/double-formats
+ How do I get paid?
We pay you at the end of every month, using Paypal.
+ What is your turnaround time?
Turnaround times will vary due to the nature of our on-demand production. It is currently at 2-4 weeks.
